Uma Thapa Magar is based in Nepalgunj. She is a reporter affiliated with Kathmandu based Nepal Samachar Patra Daily.

Her journalism journey started in 2057  BS (2000 AD) with Asal Sasan Weekly. Since then she has remained active through various publications and is also an avid blogger.

In 2007 after participating in a training program organized by Nepal Environment Journalists Association, Uma launched her blog where she writes about local events, success stories of inspiring individuals and also personal posts. Pictures are also an important part of her blogging experience.

A professional reporter, Uma says that in Nepal journalism is not an easy job-especially if one is based outside Kathmandu. She feels that professionalism is still lacking and the state need to provide appropriate protections for journalists.

She sees citizen journalism as more emotionally open medium than mainstream media. Perhaps this freedom has encouraged her to be so regular in sharing posts at Mero Report. Here is here profile page.

Congratulations and best of luck to Uma from Nepal Blogs!
